As far as I know there is no information about an upcoming publication of new, more modern edition of the book so I'm wondering if I should just read the book and afterwards learn about the modernizations up to C++20 or if there might be another source which is more up to date and better to start learning C++ from the ground up in 2023 (coming from a C# background).Įffective Modern C++ by Scott Meyer's is still one of the best references on modern C++ out there. So I'm gathering resources for my journey of in-depth learning the C++ language. ![]() The way Unreal handles things with all its macros, templates and customizations to the language differs a lot from standard C++ so I don't see myself qualified in working with pure C++ outside the context of Unreal. Is "The C++ Programming Language, Fourth Edition" still the go-to source for learning C++ in 2023 - 10 years after publication?Īfter four years of working as a programmer in gamedev with a strong focus on C# and Unity and a bit C++ in the context of Unreal Engine I want to learn C++ from the ground up. ![]()
